Silsoe is a village and civil parish in Central Bedfordshire, lying just north of Ampthill amid rolling Bedfordshire farmland. The parish is best known for the landscaped estate of Wrest Park, with its formal gardens and mansion set in extensive parkland, and a network of public footpaths that make the area popular with walkers and visitors seeking the quiet of the countryside.
Historically the village had a notable research presence - the former Silsoe Research Institute and a satellite campus of Cranfield University shaped the local economy before relocation - but today Silsoe is characterised by a close-knit community, a village hall, sports clubs, a primary school and a handful of pubs and shops, combining rural tranquillity with convenient links to nearby towns.
