Disley is a semi-rural village in Cheshire East sitting right on the edge of the Peak District National Park, with easy access to the rolling moorland and the well-known estate of Lyme Park. The River Goyt threads through the area and the nearby Sett Valley Trail and local footpaths give a strong outdoor feel; the village combines scenic high-ground views with woodland and traditional village streets.
Historically it expanded in the 19th century with the wider industrial and transport developments in the region, but today it reads more as an attractive commuter community with a railway station on the Manchester–Buxton route, a mix of Victorian and modern housing, local shops and pubs, and active community groups that sustain village life while many residents travel into Manchester and surrounding towns for work.
