Barripper is a small hamlet in west Cornwall, a short distance from Camborne, where the landscape is quietly rural with scattered farms and cottages. Like much of the area its character has been shaped by the 18th–19th century tin and copper mining boom, so you still find reminders of engine houses and old mine workings; today the local economy is largely agricultural or residential, with many people commuting to nearby towns while enjoying easy access to Cornish countryside and the coast.
Penponds sits on the western fringe of Camborne and feels more like a compact village, combining housing, local services and green spaces. It shares the region’s mining heritage and a strong Cornish identity, with community life often focussed on village halls, clubs and outdoor pursuits - walkers and enthusiasts of industrial archaeology are commonly drawn to the surrounding lanes, ponds and remnants of the former mining landscape.
