Troon is a small village in west Cornwall, a few miles from the former mining towns of Camborne and Redruth. It sits inland from the north coast, set among rolling farmland and the scarred but dramatic remnants of Cornwall’s industrial landscape, so it feels rural yet closely connected to larger local centres.
Historically Troon grew as part of the Camborne–Redruth mining district, and the surrounding countryside still shows engine houses, shafts and other mining archaeology. Today the village has a quiet, community-focused character: local agriculture and commuting to nearby towns sit alongside a modest visitor interest in the area’s mining heritage and Cornish scenery.
