Four Lanes, Beacon and Troon form a largely rural ward in west Cornwall close to Camborne and Redruth. The area is made up of small villages and hamlets set among rolling farmland and hedgerows, with easy access to moorland fringes and the distinctive skyline of engine houses that hint at the region’s industrial past.
Locally the community life mixes agriculture, small businesses and commuting to nearby towns, while social hubs such as village halls, pubs and chapels remain important. The landscape is steeped in 19th‑century mining heritage - characteristic of the wider Cornwall and West Devon mining landscape - and offers good walking and cycling country with wide views towards places like Carn Brea.
