The twin villages of Cawsand and Kingsand sit on the southern edge of the Rame Peninsula in southeast Cornwall, England, overlooking Plymouth Sound. Sheltered by the curve of the bay, they retain narrow lanes, painted fishermen’s cottages and a small tidal harbour, with direct sea views across to Plymouth and the naval dockyards.
Once small fishing and smuggling settlements that expanded in the Victorian era, the villages now blend a year‑round community of locals and artists with a tourism‑led economy of cafes, B&Bs and holiday lets. Their exposed coastal position brings dramatic weather and occasional erosion, but also excellent walking, boating and a seasonal ferry link to Plymouth, keeping the strong maritime character and local traditions alive.
