Davidstow sits on a windswept upland in north Cornwall, tucked onto the edge of Bodmin Moor and not far from Camelford. The parish is characterised by open moorland, granite outcrops and wide views towards the coast of Cornwall and beyond, giving it a remote, atmospheric feel that attracts walkers and those interested in rural landscapes in England.
Locally the economy is still largely agricultural, but the large dairy creamery at Davidstow is a major employer and the wartime airfield RAF Davidstow Moor - now marked by ruins and a small memorial - adds a notable historic layer. A scattered community gathered round an ancient parish church dedicated to St David retains a quiet village life, with tourism, farming and the creamery shaping social and cultural activity today.
