Fowey is a small harbour town and parish on the mouth of the River Fowey on the south coast of Cornwall, England. Its deep estuary and steep, narrow streets shelter a working harbour used by yachts, fishing boats and ferries to Polruan and Bodinnick, and it forms a popular stop on the South West Coast Path for coastal walks and sailing.
Historically a medieval port involved in pilchard fishing and the china‑clay trade, the town still shows its defensive past in places such as St Catherine's Castle and has a strong literary association through Daphne du Maurier and nearby Menabilly. Today the economy is driven by tourism, boating and small local businesses, with lively seasonal events including regattas and a well‑known arts and literature festival that reflect its tight‑knit community feel.
