St. Merryn sits on the north coast of Cornwall in England, a compact parish of rolling farmland, dramatic clifftops and a string of popular sandy coves such as Harlyn Bay, Constantine Bay and Porthcothan. The South West Coast Path runs through the area, making it a favourite with walkers and surfers, and it lies within easy driving distance of Padstow and Newquay.
The village has medieval roots centred on its parish church and a long history of agriculture, but today the local economy is driven largely by tourism - surf schools, campsites, holiday lets and a handful of pubs and shops. Community life swings with the seasons: lively in summer when visitors arrive, quieter in winter, and like many Cornish coastal places there are ongoing conversations about housing, second homes and sustaining local services year‑round.
