Stratton is a small historic town just inland from the north coast of Cornwall, a short distance from the seaside resort of Bude. It sits by the River Strat and retains a compact core of stone buildings and narrow streets that reflect its medieval market‑town origins, often referred to locally as Stratton-by-Bude.
The area is known for the nearby Battle of Stratton (1643) during the English Civil War, and today combines a strong rural community with agriculture, local shops and tourism tied to surrounding beaches, coastal paths and holiday accommodation; many residents also commute to larger towns for work.
