Framwellgate Moor is a village and civil parish on the northern outskirts of Durham in County Durham, roughly a couple of miles from the city centre. It occupies a transitional spot between suburban housing, pockets of farmland and small areas of woodland, with convenient road links to the A1(M), which makes it a popular base for commuters heading into Durham and further afield.
The area grew significantly in the 20th century as housing for workers in the county’s industrial and mining economy and today is largely residential, served by local shops, schools and community facilities. There’s a quiet, local community feel with family-focused amenities and occasional community events, while the historic attractions of nearby Durham - including Durham Cathedral - and surrounding countryside remain easily accessible.
