Seascale in historic Cumberland, England is a small, low‑lying coastal village on the edge of the Irish Sea, tucked beneath the red sandstone cliffs of St Bees Head. It has a long sandy beach and is popular with walkers and birdwatchers, offering clear views towards the Isle of Man on good days and easy access to the western fringes of the Lake District.
Much of the village's 19th‑century expansion followed the arrival of the railway and it still has a station on the Cumbrian Coast Line. Today the nearby nuclear complex at Sellafield strongly influences the local economy and housing, but Seascale retains a village atmosphere with local shops, community groups and a mix of long‑standing residents and people drawn by employment, coastline and countryside.
