Chaddesden North is a ward on the eastern edge of the city of Derby, covering the northern part of the large suburb of Chaddesden. It sits a few miles from Derby city centre and mixes dense residential streets with local shopping parades and small green spaces, and is close to Chaddesden Park; regular bus services and easy road links make commuting into the city straightforward.
The neighbourhood largely grew during the interwar and post‑war housebuilding boom, so the housing stock is mainly mid‑20th‑century semi‑detached, terraced and some council homes. Community life revolves around primary schools, sports clubs and community centres, and many residents work in Derby’s manufacturing and service sectors, giving the ward a character of settled suburban family neighbourhoods with a modest but noticeable social and economic mix.
