Tibshelf is a village and civil parish in the district of Bolsover, in Derbyshire, England. It sits on a ridge in the eastern part of the county and is known for its wide views across the surrounding countryside, with sights stretching towards the Peak District and the nearby river valleys.
Historically Tibshelf grew as a coal‑mining community in the Derbyshire coalfield; after the pits closed in the late 20th century much of the landscape was reclaimed and repurposed for recreation. The old colliery routes form part of the popular Five Pits Trail, and today the village combines local shops, clubs and community events with a commuter population and small businesses, reflecting a shift from heavy industry to greener, community‑focused uses.
