Newton and Blackwell are a pair of small, semi-rural settlements in the district of Bolsover, in north‑east Derbyshire, England. They sit in gently rolling farmland on the fringe of the Peak District, a short drive from the old market town of Bolsover and its well-known Bolsover Castle, with countryside lanes and footpaths that make the area popular for local walks and quiet country living.
Like much of the Bolsover area, the villages share a coal‑mining heritage, though the modern local economy is a mix of agriculture, small businesses and commuters travelling to nearby centres such as Chesterfield, Sheffield and Derby. Community life tends to be village‑focused, centred on the village hall, local pub and grassroots groups, with an emphasis on preserving local history and the rural character of the area.
