South Normanton East is an electoral ward in the district of Bolsover, in Derbyshire, in the East Midlands of England. It lies on the fringe of the old coalfield and is predominantly suburban and residential, with pockets of green space and rows of traditional miners' housing that hint at its industrial origins.
Historically shaped by coal mining, the ward retains a strong local identity centred on community halls, sports clubs and village pubs, while many residents now commute to nearby towns such as Alfreton, Mansfield and Chesterfield or onto the M1. Contemporary concerns tend to focus on housing, local services and employment, and modest regeneration has brought newer housing and small businesses alongside efforts to preserve the area’s heritage and community facilities.
