Darley Dale is a small town and civil parish in the Derbyshire Dales district of Derbyshire, England, sited along the River Derwent just northwest of Matlock and on the southern fringe of the Peak District. The area shows a strong Victorian imprint from 19th‑century industry, with former mills and quarrying having shaped much of the built environment and the surrounding limestone and gritstone landscape.
Local life mixes commuter and visitor influences: a restored station on a heritage railway, riverside walks and historic crossings such as Darley Bridge are popular, while pubs, small shops and community groups give the parish a village feel. The economy is a blend of agriculture, light industry and services, and conservation and outdoor recreation are important because of the close proximity to Peak District walking routes and river habitats.
