Buxton Central is the central ward covering the heart of Buxton in the High Peak district of Derbyshire, England. It sits on the edge of the Peak District National Park and is notable for being one of the highest market towns in the country, set among limestone hills and fed by natural thermal springs that shaped its Georgian spa-era streetscape.
The ward contains many of the town's cultural and historic highlights - the restored Buxton Crescent, the leafy Pavilion Gardens and the celebrated Buxton Opera House - and relies heavily on tourism, hospitality and independent retail. A mix of long-term residents and seasonal visitors gives the area a lively calendar of festivals and events, while its railway link and proximity to outdoor walking country make it a hub for both day-trippers and longer-stay visitors.
