Hayfield is a village and civil parish in the borough of High Peak in Derbyshire, England, sitting at the head of the valley beneath the moorland of Kinder Scout on the eastern edge of the Peak District. Its steep lanes, stone cottages and nearby reservoirs and rivers make it a popular base for walkers and climbers heading onto the moors, with plenty of scenic trails and open country close to the village.
Historically a farming community with small-scale industry, the parish still shows remnants of its textile and railway past - the former branch line has been repurposed as the Sett Valley Trail linking to New Mills. Hayfield is closely associated with the 1932 Kinder Scout mass trespass and today its economy centres on agriculture, outdoor tourism and local services, supported by an active village community and seasonal visitors.
