Etwall is a large village and civil parish in South Derbyshire, Derbyshire, England, lying roughly six miles south‑west of Derby. It occupies gently rolling lowland farmland on the edge of the city’s suburban fringe, with good road links to the A50 and A38 and reasonably easy access to the Peak District for day trips into hill country.
Historically an agricultural settlement with medieval roots, Etwall has become a prosperous commuter community with a strong local life: shops, pubs, sports clubs, a village hall and the well‑regarded John Port School anchor social activity. A handful of older buildings and the parish church hint at its past, while small businesses and nearby light industry alongside residential growth shape the modern local economy.
