Woolacombe is a coastal village and resort on the western shore of North Devon in Devon, England. Its long, golden beach faces the Atlantic and is famed for surfing, dune-backed sands and cliff-top walks with views out to Lundy and the moorland of Exmoor.
Once a small fishing and farming settlement that grew as a Victorian seaside destination, Woolacombe today depends largely on tourism - surf schools, holiday lets, cafés and pubs - and the beach is lifeguarded throughout the summer. The village combines a strong outdoor, surf-and-family culture with a mix of long‑term residents and seasonal visitors, so it feels bustling in peak months but retains a quiet, local character off‑season.
