Braunton is a large village on the edge of North Devon, Devon, England, set just inland from long sandy beaches such as Saunton Sands. It lies beside the River Caen and is backed by the extensive dune system of Braunton Burrows, part of the UNESCO‑recognised North Devon Biosphere Reserve, which gives the area unusual wildlife interest and lots of opportunities for walking, birdwatching and watersports.
Once rooted in agriculture and local trade, Braunton now combines a strong tourist and surf culture with a commuter link to nearby Barnstaple; the village still centres on a historic parish church and a cluster of independent shops, pubs and community events, creating a lively but distinctly coastal Devon feel.
