Chudleigh, in the Teignbridge district of Devon, England, is a compact riverside town on the west bank of the River Teign, a short drive (around seven to eight miles) east of Exeter. It sits on the edge of the Teign Gorge and close to the Haldon Hills and Dartmoor, so countryside walking and scenic river valleys are right on the doorstep; the town centre still shows its medieval origins with a parish church and several 17th–18th century buildings reflecting its market and coaching-town past.
Today Chudleigh has a lively local community with independent shops, cafes and a farming hinterland notable for fruit growing - strawberries in particular have a long association - and many residents commute to Exeter or Newton Abbot. Regular fairs, carnivals and village clubs keep a strong social life, and its attractive setting makes it a handy base for exploring South Devon and the surrounding countryside.
