Haytor Vale is a small village on the eastern edge of Dartmoor in the Teignbridge district of Devon, England, nestling beneath the dramatic granite outcrops of Haytor Rocks. Its elevated moorland setting gives wide views over the Teign valley towards Newton Abbot and the coast, and it lies close to the A382 between Newton Abbot and Moretonhampstead, making it a popular starting point for walkers and climbers visiting Dartmoor National Park.
Historically the area was important for granite working, with the early 19th-century Haytor Granite Tramway and quarrying legacy still visible to visitors; stone from here found its way to notable building projects. Today the local economy is a mix of agriculture and tourism - holiday cottages, cafés and outdoor-activity providers support a small rural community that balances conservation, recreation and village life.
