Holsworthy is a market town and civil parish in the Torridge district of Devon, close to the Cornish border. It sits by the River Deer amid rolling agricultural countryside and functions as a service centre for surrounding farms and villages, with coastal towns such as Bude within easy driving distance.
The town has a long market tradition and a compact centre of Georgian and Victorian buildings, with a local economy built around agriculture, small businesses and some commuting. It was once served by a branch railway until the mid-20th century, and today retains community institutions such as regular markets, local clubs and annual rural events that reflect its farming heritage.
