Barnby Dun is a small village a few miles east of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, sitting beside the River Don and the Aire and Calder Navigation. It forms part of the Kirk Sandall and Barnby Dun ward and has a mix of older brick cottages and more recent housing, with towpaths and canal locks giving the area a distinctly riverside character.
Historically rooted in agriculture and later shaped by the canal and coal-era economy, Barnby Dun today is largely residential and commuter-focused, with a village hall, a primary school and a couple of traditional pubs. The riverside setting attracts walkers and birdwatchers, and local community events help keep a close-knit, village feel despite its proximity to Doncaster.
