Campsall is a small village in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, in South Yorkshire, lying roughly seven miles north of Doncaster town centre and close to neighbouring Askern and the A1(M). It sits in a low-lying, largely agricultural landscape typical of this part of Yorkshire, with country lanes, a village green and pockets of woodland nearby.
Historically the village grew around farming and the local estate and has a medieval parish church that gives it a distinct historic character; the wider locality was shaped in the 19th and 20th centuries by nearby coal mining, which influenced employment and community life. Today Campsall is largely residential, with a quiet, rural feel and a small, active local community while remaining within easy commuting distance of larger centres for work and services.
