Toll Bar is a small suburb and former village on the northern edge of Doncaster in South Yorkshire. Its name comes from a toll gate on the old turnpike road, and the settlement sits where suburban housing meets open farmland, retaining easy road links into the town and the wider region.
Historically tied to agriculture and the surrounding coalfield economy, Toll Bar grew through 19th- and 20th-century transport and housing development and today is largely residential with local shops, schools and community groups. It has a village-like feel - pubs, green spaces and a strong local identity - while many residents commute into Doncaster for work and leisure.
