Melbury Osmond is a small, quietly rural parish in Dorset, England, set in the gentle lowlands of the Blackmore Vale with the chalk slopes of the Dorset Downs nearby. It retains an unspoilt character of thatched cottages, stone farmhouses and a historic parish church, giving a strong sense of continuity with the agricultural landscape that shaped it.
Farming - traditionally dairy and mixed husbandry - remains important, but the community also benefits from countryside tourism, walkers and a few rural commuters; local life centres on parish events and the conservation of old buildings and lanes rather than busy commercial activity.
