Street is a large village in Somerset, set on the edge of the Somerset Levels and within easy reach of Glastonbury and the Mendip Hills. Its low-lying landscape and proximity to the Levels give it a distinctive rural feel, while the nearby Tor and wetlands shape a strong local sense of place and history.
The village grew up around the C. & J. Clark shoe company in the 19th century and still bears that industrial heritage: converted factory buildings now house the well-known outlet Clarks Village, alongside community amenities such as Strode College and Strode Theatre. Today Street mixes commuter and local lifestyles, with retail, education and a lively arts scene balancing its historic manufacturing roots.
