Motcombe is a small village and civil parish in north Dorset, England, sitting a short distance north of Shaftesbury and on the edge of the rolling lowlands of the Blackmore Vale, with the chalk escarpments of Cranborne Chase not far away. It has a compact, largely agricultural character: farms and market gardening shaped the local economy for centuries, while today many residents commute to nearby towns or work in local services.
The village has the feel of a traditional English rural community, with a mix of older cottages, a parish church and community facilities that host local events and clubs. There are a number of listed buildings and traces of a long history, but day-to-day life is quiet and centred on community activities and the surrounding countryside, which makes it appealing for walkers and anyone wanting an accessible rural base close to Shaftesbury.
