Shroton in Dorset, England (officially Iwerne Courtney) is a small north Dorset village set in the rolling farmland of the Blackmore Vale. It sits on the valley of the River Iwerne, a short drive from the market towns of Blandford Forum and Shaftesbury, and is often admired for its compact cluster of historic cottages and its rural setting.
The village has a largely agricultural character and a close‑knit social life centred on a parish church, a village pub and local events; rural tourism and walking are popular because of the surrounding countryside and nearby prehistoric earthworks and hillforts. The "Courtney" part of the formal name recalls the medieval Courtenay family who once held the manor, so Shroton combines a strong sense of local history with everyday village life.
