Shroton is a small village and civil parish in Dorset, tucked into a shallow valley through which the chalk stream River Iwerne runs, and lies on the northern edge of the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The rolling chalk downland and clear streams give the area distinctive wildlife and make it popular with walkers and those seeking a quiet rural landscape.
Historically the village grew around a medieval parish church and a series of manor houses and has retained much of its agricultural character; there is still a strong community life centred on a village hall, a pub and local events, while tourism and countryside pursuits supplement the local economy. Many residents commute to nearby market towns such as Blandford Forum and Shaftesbury, and the settlement is formally known as Iwerne Courtney though it is commonly called Shroton.
