Sturminster Marshall is a small village and civil parish in Dorset, set on the banks of the River Stour. Its history is visible in the medieval parish church and in a name that reflects a minster by the Stour and the medieval Marshall family who once held the manor.
The surrounding landscape of river meadows and farmland makes it popular with walkers and naturalists, while the local economy is a mix of agriculture, small businesses and commuters heading to nearby towns such as Bournemouth, Poole and Wimborne. Community life centres on the pubs, village hall, primary school and occasional fĂȘtes and events that keep the social scene lively.
