Winterborne Whitechurch is a small rural parish in north Dorset, tucked into chalk downland and the classic Dorset winterbourne valley from which it takes its name. The stream that runs through the village flows only seasonally, and the surrounding hedged farmland and low chalk hills give good opportunities for walking and wildlife watching, with the landscape stepping towards the edge of Cranborne Chase.
Historically an agricultural settlement with medieval roots, the village still shows character in its stone and thatched cottages and a church with old fabric, while farms remain important to the local economy. Today many people combine local work with commuting to nearby towns such as Blandford Forum, and community life is quietly organised around the parish church, village hall and occasional local events that aim to conserve the rural character.
