Thwing is a small rural village and civil parish set on the chalk ridges of the Yorkshire Wolds in the East Riding of Yorkshire, a few miles inland from the Yorkshire coast and the seaside town of Bridlington. The landscape is classic Wolds country - rolling arable fields, dry valleys and open viewpoints that look towards coastal features such as Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Head.
Historically centred on agriculture, the village still displays traditional stone cottages and a parish church and supports a modest local community life with occasional events and activities for residents and walkers. Economically it remains largely farming-led, with some visitors using the lanes and footpaths as a base for exploring the wider Wolds and nearby coastal attractions.
