Rodmell is a small village and civil parish in the district of Lewes, East Sussex, in southern England. It sits in the Ouse valley at the foot of the South Downs, with floodplain meadows and chalk grassland and the River Ouse running close by, so it is popular with walkers and birdwatchers; amenities are limited and many residents commute to nearby Lewes or Brighton.
The village retains a number of historic cottages and farm buildings, but its best-known cultural attraction is Monk's House, the 17th-century country retreat of Virginia and Leonard Woolf now cared for by the National Trust, which draws literary visitors and bolsters local tourism. Rodmell feels quintessentially rural East Sussex, with agricultural roots, seasonal community activities and easy access to the walking country of the South Downs National Park.
