Tarring Neville is a tiny, predominantly rural civil parish in the district of Lewes, East Sussex, England. It occupies chalk downland on the edge of the South Downs and lies close to the floodplain of the River Ouse, with the coastal town of Newhaven and the county town of Lewes a short drive away.
Historically it dates back to the medieval period and the distinctive "Neville" suffix reflects a past association with a manorial landholder; today the parish remains very sparsely populated, dominated by farmland, a handful of cottages and quiet lanes. Community life is low‑key and often linked administratively to neighbouring parishes, while walkers and cyclists make use of nearby rights of way on the South Downs and many residents commute into nearby towns for work and services.
