Beddingham is a small, rural parish a few miles east of Lewes in East Sussex, tucked into the Ouse valley at the foot of the South Downs. The landscape is a mix of farmland, pockets of chalk grassland and woodland, with a scattering of houses and farms and easy access to a network of public footpaths and Downs ridges popular with walkers and birdwatchers.
Historically it has the quiet imprint of a long-established village community centred on agriculture, while today many residents commute to nearby towns and to Brighton. The parish retains a notably close-knit, rural character with local events and the strong sense of place that comes from being set close to both river valley and Downland countryside.
