Winchelsea Beach is a low‑lying shingle and sand shoreline and small coastal settlement on the English south coast, just off the historic town of Winchelsea in the district of Rother, East Sussex, England. It fronts the English Channel at the mouth of the River Rother and sits beside the salt marshes and lagoons of the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, with the distinctive shingle headland of Dungeness visible along the coast.
The area has a quiet, seasonal character: birdwatchers, walkers and anglers make up much of the visitor trade, while holiday parks, caravan sites and modest local businesses support the local economy. Historically the nearby Winchelsea has medieval roots and the whole stretch of coast bears traces of smuggling lore and wartime defences; social life is modest year‑round, with most services and a livelier scene found a short drive away in Rye.
