Pett is a small village and civil parish in the district of Rother, in East Sussex, England, sitting just inland from the shingle beach of Pett Level on the stretch of coast between Hastings and Rye. The locality is marked by low-lying marshy levels and chalk cliffs, with a mix of farmland and coastal habitat that attracts walkers and birdwatchers and forms part of the gentle transition towards the Romney Marsh landscape to the east.
Historically the village has medieval roots and a long maritime connection - there is even a local association with the historic Pett family of shipwrights - while today its economy leans on agriculture, small-scale tourism and people commuting to nearby towns. Community life centres on the village church and hall, and the area is popular with visitors following coastal footpaths and exploring local natural and historic features.
