Maresfield is a village and civil parish in the district of Wealden, East Sussex, England, situated a couple of miles north of Uckfield. It lies on the rolling, wooded slopes of the High Weald and sits close to Ashdown Forest, combining farmland, ancient woodland and the parkland of the former Maresfield Park estate.
With medieval roots, the village retains a strong community feel centred on its parish church, village hall and local pubs, and you can still sense the echoes of the Weald’s historic timber and ironworking economy in older buildings and field patterns. Today Maresfield is largely agricultural and commuter-oriented, with small businesses, walking and nature interests drawing visitors and its 18th–19th-century cottages giving the place a distinct rural character.
