Redhill is a bustling market and commuter town in the borough of Reigate and Banstead, in Surrey, England, sitting at the foot of the North Downs some 20 miles south of London. The town grew in the 19th century around a small hamlet and the arrival of the railway, and the name reflects the iron-rich soils of the area; there are still pockets of historic 19th‑century architecture alongside plenty of green space and views towards the Downs and the Weald beyond.
Today Redhill combines a compact town centre of shops, cafés and community venues with light industry and office space, and serves as an important rail junction with regular services into London and towards Gatwick and the south coast, making it popular with commuters. Local clubs, parks and events give it a strong community feel, while nearby countryside and cycling routes make it a convenient base for both work and leisure.
