Oakwood sits in the northern suburbs of London, within the London Borough of Enfield. The ward is largely interwar suburban, with tree-lined streets and is backed by green spaces such as Trent Park and remnants of Enfield Chase, giving it a notably leafy character despite good links to central London.
The area expanded in the 1930s around the arrival of Oakwood tube station on the Piccadilly line, whose Charles Holden–designed station building is a local landmark. Today Oakwood is mainly a family‑oriented residential neighbourhood with small local shops, parks and a commuter population, blending interwar architecture with easy access to green belt countryside.
