Southgate is a leafy, largely residential ward in the north of the London Borough of Enfield, prized for its suburban feel and convenient links into London via the Piccadilly line. The area is well known for its striking 1930s art‑deco Southgate Underground station, a busy local high street with independent shops and restaurants, and close access to large green spaces such as Trent Park and Grovelands Park.
Much of the neighbourhood developed in the interwar years, so you’ll see a lot of period housing; today it’s popular with families and professionals and has an active community life, with local associations, schools and a notable long‑established Jewish community contributing to its cultural mix. Economically it functions largely as a commuter suburb with a healthy local retail and service sector serving residents.
