Upper Edmonton is an inner‑urban ward in the London Borough of Enfield, sitting on the southern edge of the Lee Valley and close to the River Lee. It has good bus and rail links into central London and sits near the shopping and transport hub of Edmonton Green, with the old industrial terraces and warehouses of the area giving way to modern housing and redevelopment sites.
The ward has a distinctly multicultural character, with lively local markets, community groups and churches reflecting long‑standing Caribbean, Turkish and Eastern European communities among others. Historically shaped by 19th and 20th‑century industry along the river, it is now the focus of regeneration initiatives such as the Meridian Water programme, aiming to boost jobs and affordable housing while addressing pockets of deprivation that still exist.
