Barling Magna is a small rural village and civil parish in the district of Rochford, in Essex, England. It sits close to the low-lying coastal marshes and estuaries of the county, giving it an open, agricultural character and good access to scenic walking and birdwatching along nearby waterways; its origins are medieval and the parish still contains a number of older, listed buildings that hint at that long history.
Local life is quietly village-centred, with a predominantly residential and farming economy and many people commuting to nearby towns such as Southend-on-Sea for work and services. The community is small and close-knit, with events and parish matters often revolving around the village hall and church, and visitors tend to come for countryside tranquillity rather than major tourist attractions.
