Stambridge is a small rural parish in the district of Rochford, Essex, England, set beside the River Roach and the low-lying salt marshes that lead towards the Crouch estuary. The settlement traditionally comprises Great and Little Stambridge and is characterised by agricultural fields, hedgerows and country lanes rather than urban development, giving it a quiet, coastal hinterland feel a few miles from the Southend-on-Sea shoreline.
With medieval roots the area retains clusters of historic houses and a parish church, and its waterways have long shaped local life - supporting grazing marshes, small boatyards, sailing and birdwatching. The community is largely residential and agricultural, with many people commuting to nearby Rochford, Southend-on-Sea or London, and village events and rural traditions still important to local social life.
