Frinton is a small coastal town and administrative ward on the north Essex coast in the district of Tendring, Essex, England. It overlooks a long, sheltered sandy beach with a well-kept promenade and green spaces, and much of the town retains late Victorian and Edwardian architecture thanks to active conservation efforts.
The area is known for a quietly genteel character and an older, relatively affluent population; the local economy depends on seasonal tourism, independent shops and local services, with rail links to Colchester and beyond. Cultural life is understated but steady, with a summer theatre, community clubs and events, and it is often contrasted with nearby seaside towns such as Walton-on-the-Naze and Clacton for its preservation-minded, calm atmosphere.
