Walton is an electoral ward in the district of Tendring in the county of Essex, covering much of the coastal town of Walton-on-the-Naze on the North Sea. The area is notable for its long Victorian promenade, sandy beaches and the distinctive Naze Tower, while the nearby The Naze nature reserve and eroding cliffs attract birdwatchers, fossil hunters and walkers.
Economically the ward leans on tourism and seasonal trade, supported by small shops, local fishing and a number of commuters travelling into Colchester. Historically a maritime and holiday destination, it shares the familiar social mix of seaside communities - a lively summer scene alongside an ageing population, second homes and ongoing coastal erosion concerns.
